Borderlands 1 Skip Intro

Personally I would say get 1 over 2, but I am in the minority on that. I have played over 150 hours in each and when it comes down to it 1 was just more fun and less annoying. Perhaps a lot of that just has to do with 1 being the completely fresh thing and it would be hard for 2 to have the same impact, but when I think about them now the original is one of my all time favorite games and 2 was good, but too many things annoyed me about it.But yeah it doesn't matter if you skip 1. Play either though. You'll enjoy your time.

You aren't missing much at all. Borderlands 2 is definitely the better game, and the character classes are both way more balanced than in 1, and are also way more diverse in terms of play styles (the Assassin for instance, can be built as either melee or sniper). Loot is also way more diverse.Edit: The only thing that annoys me in Borderlands 2 is the early game.

If you choose to play the new game again with a new class just to get a new take on combat you have to go through this long tutorial-ish part of the game every time, and loot drops take a while to really diversify into all the weapons types, class mods, etc. You won't miss anything important.Borderlands to me was always a mindless game to play while listening to music or podcasts. Story is shit/non-existent, characters are meh, just really fun.Yeah and honestly, if you play 1 and then play 2 it may be even worse because you'll get burnt out and see how they kinda just made Borderlands 1.5. Borderlands 2 was fine but it was just a incremental refinement of the first game really.Absolutely agree, this happened to me. I was going to play Borderlands 2 and decided to run through the first one to get me excited. It actually killed every desire to play the second one and still haven't gotten around to it yet. The reviews also didn't help as it was an incremental refinement to the first one, as razielcuts says.

I have the PC version of Borderlands, and was wondering if it's somehow possible to skip the intro movies. The 2K / nvidia logo movies I mean. Dragoon8 20:46, January 26, 2010 (UTC) as far as mashing buttons while the movies are playing, I have no clue, anyone confirm? Adyz04r 23:16, January 26. Borderlands 2 is a huge joke, and the joke most of the time is 'Hey, remember that thing from Borderlands 1? Here's a funny take on that.' I also think Borderlands 1 is a better game. A lot of Borderlands 2 is running through a linear area for a story reason, then when you get back to town you'll get a bunch of quests to run through the area again.

Then about an hour later there will be another quest to run through that area again. There is a lot of back tracking, because the fast travel points are not located anywhere convenient. Basically I'm saying the level design and writing is better in Borderlands 1. I love Borderlands 1 to death. But there is zero story. You get off the bus and are told 'Search for the Vault' at the end of the game, you find the vault. That is the extent of the story.

Intro

There's funny dialogue in there, in my opinion, but there is no story progression. Get off bus, shoot psycho's, find vault. You don't miss anything story related by just jumping into Borderlands 2. The only thing that might catch you is that the main characters of Borderlands 1 are the primary quest givers in Borderlands 2, but since they never had personalities in the first game. Yeah, it's not going to be a problem.

Some people just bring it up. You aren't missing much at all.

The characters are far more diverse, you can probably actually get into a debate over what is a better character build in Borderlands 2 on a per character basis rather than everyone just saying 'Play Soldier' in Borderlands 1.And I also agree on the loot tables being weak at the start of the game. There might be all of like 5 different gun styles in the first 2 or 3 areas of the game that could be designated the tutorial area. You wont be seeing crazy grenade types or shields till you get out of the 1 or 2 hour long starting area.If your skipping over Borderlands 1 to get to Borderlands 2, I ain't going to stop you.

It's really bloody good, and if you have some buddies to play it with, it's even better.
